Dec 14, 2022     45-10 Cabin Doors and Transparencies SIKAFLEX Step 4 - (12 hours)       Category: Fuselage
Original video from Zach Chase https://youtu.be/t4wfZGasAg4

"INSIDE OF THE WINDOW:
1. Clean with wet towel and alcool
2. Trim silpruf dispenser to1/4"" diameter
3. Thin film, keep vertical on trimmed pointer to have an uniform thin layer. Spread with finger and add where necessary with finger. REASON for this is to avoid seeing the silpruf shims later on.
IF USING SIKAFLEX 295 USE SIKAFLEX PRIMER 209: ONLY 30 MIN Curing time DONT WAIT 24 Hours. Therefore install shims on the fiberglass frame few days before. USE normal black silicon to attach the shims, 24hrs curing time.
4 PULL THE NUMBER 1 TAPE BEFORE is cured. If it breaks, you can pull from the other side....TRY to AVOID breaking the thin tapes.
5 when finished with silpruf MAKE a NOB on the dispenser AND WHEN IT IS CURED PULL
6. Make few lines of silpruf and let cure for 5-6 days. then cut little slices. Cut in half, keep some big, but mostly small triangular is better.
7. Mask the fuselage along the line marked with pencil. Use tongue depressor pen cap or the to work into the radius. Precision is not an issue. Overlap the differente pieces. Small pieces if tight corner. Mark the stand off positions on the masking tape in case you need to add a cleco always close to a standoff. Mark also the cleco position.
8. Use RTV BLACK silicon to glue the standoff /shims in the right position. Dont push to hard to squeeze everythung out. Let it cure 1 overnight.
9. Tape the inside with stronger masking tape. Again use an overhang. Cut with razorblade flush with the window joggle.

Chad to do the whole process three times in different days. Get the right tape.....
The rapid silicon i took from Bostik didn't work well. Tried again with the SIKAFLEX putting dabs instead of glueing the standoffs. It will take longer to cure, but i hope it will work better.
